Introduction | Wine List

INTRODUCTION TO LANDFALL

1994 heralded a number of major changes at Landfall that clearly represents a new beginning for the winery. Partner Ross Revington has moved on leaving full ownership with winemaker John Thorpe.

The winery has expanded to currently process over 150 tons per year and launched upon a programme of upgrading plant and equipment that will soon see us handling over 300 tons per annum.

The addition of tanks and refrigeration this season has allowed for the extra processing for the Longbush wines that are produced for John's brother Bill Thorpe. The winery is now committed to a five year programme aimed at achieving excellence and prifitability.

The adjacent eight hectare vineyard managed organically for the past eight years is also seeing the benefit of this commitment through the efforts of a full time viticulturalist.

The new direction is reflected in the contemporary label designs that express our commitment to environmentally responsible production from growing to marketing.

At Landfall our winemaking philosophy encompasses a holistic understanding of how wine fits into peoples lives. While striving for excellence our wines are made to be enjoyed as an integral part of everyday life bringing added pleasure to eating, entertaining and the company of friends.

The tannin structure is soft and mouth filling. The natural methods used to produce this wine may result in a small sediment which may need decantering as the wine matures. Cellar for 3-7 years
