Situated on the outskirts of Renwick, Framingham has rapidly contributed to Marlborough's reputation as a world renowned wine producing region. Established in 1981 by owners Rex and Paula Brooke-Taylor, Framingham initially produced Rhine Riesling for Corbans and more recently for the Grove Mill label.
It was during the thirteen years up to 1994 that Framingham earned critical worldwide acclaim with consistent gold medal winning vintages. 1994 saw another milestone for rex and Paula - the Framingham label being produced in its own right with the bottling of Framingham's 94 Riesling vintage, in both dry and medium styles. These wines were made by winemaker, David Pearce from Grove Mill Wine Co. These Rieslings were entered in three major wine shows in 1995 receiving a gold medal in each as well as silver and bronze.
The vineyard, 40 acres of prime Marlborough land, also accommodates Framinghams "Blackbirch" vineyard, producing Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. In the 1995 vintage, Framingham again produced a medium and dry style Riesling and a Chardonnay, made by winemaker, Simon Waghorn from Whitehaven Wine Co. In addition, Sauvignon Blanc will be produced for the 1996 vintage. Framingham wine is currently sold only to selected restaurants and to boutique wine shops. Several wine soci\eties distribute Framingham via mail order and our own sales representatives currently sell in Christchurch, Auckland, Nelson and Marlborough.
