
Wellington Region
Wellington is now the official name the wineries in the Southern part of the North
Island including the Wairarapa and the single Te Horo winery Te Horo Vineyard. The
Wairarapa now has 20 small wineries with a total vintage of around 500 tonnes last year.
There is strong growth wihin the region with vineyard area increasing by 40% overall. The
region is justifiably renowned for its Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot.
